Terms of Service

Last updated: June 6, 2026

ISO App (“ISO”, “we”, “us”) is a community tool that helps people post “In Search Of” requests and connect with others who may have an item or lead. ISO is not a marketplace operator, broker, payment processor, escrow agent, insurer, or guarantor of any transaction.

Any deal, exchange, rental, service, ticket transfer, vehicle sale, payment, delivery, or dispute is solely between users. By using ISO, you agree that you bear the full risk of those interactions and that ISO is not responsible for losses or damages arising from them, except where applicable law does not allow that limitation.

Not legal advice. These Terms are a practical starting point for a pre-revenue beta. Have qualified counsel review them (especially liability caps and indemnity) before you take money, form an entity, or scale categories like vehicles or housing.

1. Eligibility and accounts

You must provide accurate information and keep your account secure. You’re responsible for activity that occurs under your account.

2. User content and conduct

You are responsible for your posts, messages, photos, and offers. Do not post illegal items, prohibited content, or attempt to scam or harass other users.

We may remove content or restrict accounts to keep the community safe.

3. Transactions, services, and liability

ISO provides introductions and in-app messaging only. We do not inspect, store, ship, title, authenticate, or hold funds for items; we do not verify users’ identities for commerce; and we do not guarantee that any user will complete a transaction or that any listing is lawful, accurate, or safe.

High-risk categories. Posts about vehicles, bicycles, housing or rooms, event tickets, regulated services, or large cash deals are allowed only where lawful in your jurisdiction and when your description is truthful and complete. You alone are responsible for permits, taxes, transfer of title, landlord/tenant rules, ticket resale restrictions, and meeting strangers safely.

No warranties. The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ISO disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, ISO and its operators, contractors, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, goodwill, data, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of the Service or any user interaction, including personal injury, property damage, fraud, theft, non-delivery, misrepresentation, or disputes, even if ISO has been advised of the possibility of such damages. To the maximum extent permitted by law, ISO's aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) fifty U.S. dollars (USD $50) or (b) the amounts you have paid ISO in service fees in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim (which may be zero during free beta).

Indemnity. You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ISO App, its operators, affiliates, contractors, and their respective directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your listings, messages, or offers; (c) your interactions with other users; (d) your violation of these Terms or applicable law; or (e) infringement of a third party's rights by your content.

No agency. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, employment, or agency relationship between you and ISO. No user is an agent of ISO authorized to bind us.

4. Safety

ISO does not supervise meetups, verify identities for in-person exchanges, or guarantee user conduct. You are responsible for your safety when messaging, meeting, or completing any handoff or purchase with another user.

Meetups and handoffs. When possible, meet in a well-lit public place. Bring a friend for high-value items. Inspect goods before you pay or release an item. Do not feel pressured to complete a deal on the spot.

Personal information. Be cautious sharing your home address, personal phone number, workplace, school, financial account details, government IDs, or one-time verification codes in chat or at pickup. Share only what you are comfortable sharing for that specific exchange.

Payments and scams. ISO is not a payment processor or escrow service. Be wary of requests to pay by wire, gift card, cryptocurrency, or deposit before meeting; requests to move the conversation off-app quickly; and pressure tactics. Report suspicious behavior through the app.

No safety guarantee. Trust badges (for example email confirmed at sign-in, Founding Member, or campus email) reflect limited account signals, not background checks or identity verification. Signing in with Google or Facebook confirms your email through that provider; signing up with email and password requires clicking our confirmation link before login. None of those paths mean ISO vouches for a person or a deal. Use your own judgment. To the maximum extent permitted by law, ISO is not liable for harm arising from user interactions, including theft, fraud, assault, or property damage (see Section 3).

5. Email from ISO App

When you create an account, you may choose (defaults on at sign-up) to receive: message alerts when someone messages you in-app, and tips & community updates (welcome follow-ups, posting guides, and occasional Bay Area ISO news). Auth emails (confirm signup, password reset) send when needed regardless of marketing preferences.

You can change or turn off non-auth email anytime under Profile → Email preferences, or use the one-click Unsubscribe link in any tips email. Turning off tips does not delete your account or stop in-app messaging.

6. Promotional programs (community neighbor help)

From time to time ISO may run a promotional marketing program (for example the community neighbor-help pilot through August 31, 2026) where qualified neighbors may receive extra help fulfilling a live ISO, up to a disclosed approximate monthly budget.

Not a lottery. These programs are not sweepstakes or games of chance. Recipients are selected only from neighbors who meet published qualification steps (sign up, post at least one live ISO, send the required number of email invites from /refer, etc.) using stated criteria, not by random draw.

No guarantee. Qualifying does not guarantee selection. Participation is voluntary, free, and open to eligible U.S. residents 18+. Void where prohibited. ISO is not affiliated with Meta, Facebook, or other marketplaces. Full rules appear on /refer and /faq and may change with notice during beta.

Invites you send. When you use /refer to email an invite, you represent that you have a personal relationship with that recipient and permission to share their address for a one-time invite. Do not spam or harvest addresses.

Media consent if selected. If you are chosen to receive neighbor-help fulfillment, you must agree in writing (email or in-app message) before we provide the promotional benefit that you will participate on camera during fulfillment (pickup, handoff, or similar) and that ISO App may photograph and/or video-record that activity for promotional and marketing purposes. You grant ISO App a perpetual, royalty-free license to use your name, likeness, voice, and the resulting photos and recordings on ISO App websites, social channels, email, and other marketing, unless prohibited by law. If you decline media participation, we may select another qualified neighbor instead.

7. Beta and service changes

ISO is in private beta. Features, availability, and moderation may change without notice. Nothing in these Terms promises a particular uptime, feed ranking, or outcome from posting an ISO.
